Where'd the name come from?

Old Towne Express is a small, growing, family owned and operated business headquartered in Lime Springs, Iowa. Our first office was actually in the original Lime Springs, or the Old Town, as the locals refer to it, and thus our name: Old Towne Express.

We keep the name because it reminds us that, as in midwestern towns of the early days—and still today,actually—businesses and people relied on personal relationships to see them through the good times and the bad. That same type of relationship with our customers as well as our drivers is key to our stability, success, and growth.

We began operations in 1997 with a couple of trucks. Our great customer service brought the need to increase our fleet, so in 2002 we began to seriously expand by bringing onboard dedicated Owner/Operators. Currently we have approximately two dozen safe, caring, drivers who share our passion for superior customer service and on-time deliveries.

Our niche is specialized refrigerated freight. Our location here in Lime Springs, Iowa, is centrally located to Rochester, Austin, and Albert Lea, MN; La Crosse and Prairie du Chien, WI; and Mason City, Charles City, Waterloo, and Dubuque, IA. Many loads from our current customers originate in Southern Wisconsin or the Rochester/Minneapolis/St. Paul area. Of course they can go anyplace, but most of our customer's destinations are in the Upper Midwest.

We have no intention of losing our small company atmosphere and service and becoming a big uncaring company. Our drivers have names, not numbers, and we intend to keep it that way. We know where they are at all times and can call them anytime with important information. And they can call us with questions or just to keep in touch.
